Christian Money Solutions released a free debt payoff calculator. The calculator shows a clear monthly plan for paying off your specific debts based on the snowball method.

The snowball method effectively starts with your lowest balance and works your way up until all debts are paid off. Another popular method is the avalanche method which is starting with your highest interest rate debt and working your way down.

While the math generally favors the avalanche method, having a plan that you are willing to stick to is the important point. That is where the calculator can help as it maps out the payments each month.

Another resource that may be helpful is Christian Credit Counselors. Depending on where you live and the type of debt you have, they may be able to assist with making your debt interest rates and payment more manageable.

Having a defined plan to both get out of and stay out of debt can help release some of the financial stress even before you have made any payments.
