I recently finished up the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. In his chapter on Simplicity he shared this principle- "Learn to enjoy things without owning them."

Some Things Bear Repeating

I read the same idea roughly a year ago in Foster's Celebration of Discipline. Both times it stuck out to me.

Personally this comes up occasionally with land. Wanting to own recreational land vs. just enjoying the free options.

Enjoying something you don't own is oftentimes much less expensive than owning and maintaining the object of your enjoyment.

Being able to enjoy riding in your friends sports car without having to own one yourself. Enjoying a book from the library without having to own it. Enjoying a neighbor's landscaping without wondering how you could do the same to your home.

Seek to enjoy without having to own. Not only is this good for your soul but also for your budget.
